Saudi Arabia’s PIF names new director of investments

by Kali Persall

Omar Jahidi has been appointed as director of investments in the Middle East and North Africa, at Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), said sources with knowledge of the matter.

Jahidi previously served as director for investment banking advisory at HSBC Holdings in Saudi Arabia. He will join PIF in the coming weeks and will report to Eyas AlDossari, head of investment advisory within the MENA investments division.

PIF seeks to become one of the largest sovereign wealth funds in the world. According to the fund’s website, PIF is building a world-class, diversified portfolio through high-quality investments in attractive, long-term opportunities at both the domestic and international level.

Since 2015, the PIF’s assets under management have grown from roughly $150 billion to $430 billion.
