Spot gold climbed 1.62 percent to sell for $1,808.15 per ounce at 8:42 a.m. ET, and silver rallied 2.05 percent to $23.81 per ounce at the same time. Platinum surged 2.84 percent to $1.033.68 per ounce at 8:43 a.m. ET, and palladium rose 1.38 percent to go for $1,903.74 at the same time.
