The $210.2 billion New York State Common Retirement Fund (NYSCRF) has earned a 7.09 percent return on its real estate investments, for the state fiscal year ending March 31, according to a statement by the New York State Comptroller. The retirement fund has a 7.3 percent actual allocation to real estate.

NYSCRF earned an estimated total return of 5.23 percent on all investments during the state fiscal year, which could still change once returns are fully audited. The retirement fund’s value at the end of state fiscal year 2018, after audits, was $207.4 billion, and the fund earned a total return of 11.35 percent.

NYSCRF is the third-largest public pension fund in the United States and was ranked one of the nations best-funded pension plans by Pew Charitable Trusts. It invests on behalf of more than 1 million state and local government employees and retirees and their beneficiaries.
