New Los Angeles football stadium tops $4b in costs

by Andrea Zander

The price tag for the new Los Angeles Stadium at Hollywood Park — the future home of the NFL’s Los Angeles Rams and Los Angeles Chargers — which is currently under construction, has reached $4.25 billion, according to media reports, making it the most expensive stadium ever built in the United States.

The cost also includes the value of a 6,000-seat amphitheater but not the planned retail and commercial development, and the new NFL Network home, which may increase the construction cost to more than $5 billion.

Los Angeles Rams owner Stan Kroenke has plans to commit $1.6 billion of his own money for construction.

The original price tag when the stadium was first approved was approximately $2.3 billion. The project is expected to be ready in time for the 2020 NFL season.
