Louisiana Teachers allocates 2% for REIT strategy

The $16.3 billion Teachers’ Retirement System of Louisiana has created a 2 percent allocation within its portfolio to invest in REITs.

The pension fund will be conducting a manager search next year to help invest some of the capital. The search will be brought to the pension fund’s board for approval at its June 2017 board meeting, and a final decision on the mandate will be made Sept. 8, 2017.

Louisiana Teachers recently committed $50 million each to Crow Holdings Realty Partners VIII and Harbert U.S. Real Estate Fund VI earlier this month. In October, the pension fund committed $125 million to two real estate funds, including $75
