Longroad closes on, begins construction of Texas solar project

Longroad Energy has reached financial close on a 202-megawatt DC solar project in Polk County, Texas.

Longroad has now commenced construction of its Umbriel Solar project, the company’s sixth greenfield renewable-energy project in Texas to reach financial close. Development of Umbriel began in 2017, and the project is expected to reach commercial operations by the end of this year.

Umbriel is expected to avoid around 250,000 metric tons of carbon emissions annually, the equivalent of taking approximately 55,000 gasoline-powered cars off the road for each year that the project is operating.
