Indiana Public Retirement System commits $100m to the multifamily sector

The Indiana Public Retirement System (INPRS) has committed $100 million to Abacus Multi-Family Partners VI, a value-add investment vehicle managed by Abacus Capital Group.

Abacus initially launched the fund in April with a $790 million target, but bumped up that offering to $1.25 billion soon after. Like its predecessor vehicle, Abacus Multi-Family Partners V, the sixth fund will acquire properties with specific characteristics, such as relative affordability in markets and U.S. submarkets showing favorable multifamily trends.

A spokesperson from INPRS confirmed the investment in Abacus Multi-Family Partners VI is the pension fund’s first in that vehicle; however, INPRS has an existing relationship with this manager in other funds.
