Harrison Street raises $700m for real estate fund

Harrison Street Real Estate Capital has raised $700 million in equity commitments for Harrison Street Real Estate Partners VI, with the help of its sidecar fund, Harrison Street Real Estate Partners VI-A, according to filings with the SEC. The firm did not comment on its fundraising efforts.

The closed-end fund started fundraising approximately three to four months ago and follows an opportunistic strategy. It will invest in medical office, self-storage, and senior and student housing properties throughout the United States. The firm hopes to raise $850 million in equity commitments for the fund.

The fund previously received $50 million from the $16.5 billion Illinois State Board of Investment and $75 million from the $14.3 billion Public Employees Retirement Association of New Mexico.
