Harrison Street acquires student housing facility, plans renovation

by Jody Barhanovich

Harrison Street Real Estate Capital, one of the largest real estate investment firms dedicated to the education, healthcare and storage sectors, has acquired The Marq, a student housing facility at Marquette University in Milwaukee. The sale price was undisclosed.

The 231-unit mixed-use student housing facility has more than 600 student housing beds and has more than 2,450 square feet of retail space.

As part of the acquisition, the Marq will undergo a $1.5 million renovation, which is expected to be completed for the fall 2018 academic year. The building is located along the western edge of Marquette’s campus.

Harrison Street has engaged Capstone On-Campus Management to manage the property in a shared governance arrangement with Marquette University.

Harrison Street has approximately $12.8 billion in assets under management.
