by Kali Persall

Greystar Real Estate Partners has hired Kevin Scelfo, former senior investment officer at the $200 billion New York City Pension and Retirement Systems, as managing director of portfolio management.

In his previous position, Scelfo managed the pension fund’s $17 billion opportunistic and value-add real estate private equity portfolio, comprised of co-investments, separate accounts and commingled fund investments.

Prior to that, he served as director of real estate investments at New York–Presbyterian Hospital, a $5 billion endowment fund, and worked as a senior associate of private equity and principal investments at Macquarie Group.

In his new role, he will be responsible for managing Greystar’s global multifamily investment vehicles, as well as growing the firm’s relationships with key partners.

Scelfo holds a BS degree in business finance from Cornell University and a master’s degree in finance from INSEAD Business School.
