The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) has approved the permit authorizing the Port Arthur LNG Phase 2 expansion project under development in Jefferson County, Texas, according to Sempra Infrastructure.
Phase 1 of the project was officially launched in April, and in September, Sempra Infrastructure sold a 42 percent indirect, noncontrolling interest in the project to KKR. The Port Arthur LNG Phase 1 project is designed to include two natural gas-liquefaction trains, two LNG storage tanks and associated facilities with a nameplate capacity of 13 million metric tons per year. Total capital expenditures for the Port Arthur Phase 1 project are estimated at $13 billion.
