Connecticut Retirement Plans and Trust Funds names new CIO after national search

Edward Wright has been appointed as the new CIO of Connecticut Retirement Plans and Trust Funds (CRPTF), following a highly competitive national search.

Connecticut State Treasurer Shawn Wooden said Wright will advise the treasurer, the sole trustee of the CRPTF, and run the day-to-day management of the $40 billion pension fund.

Wright recently served as a principal investment officer and head of global equity at the $70 billion Los Angeles County Employees Retirement Association (LACERA), where he led a team of investment professionals managing $26 billion of pension assets.

Wright also has extensive experience in finance, starting as a research analyst and progressing to a portfolio manager at LJH Global Investments, SNR portfolio manager and head of global equity at Oppenheimer Funds, Inc. He also served as global head of portfolio management at Genworth Financial Asset Management, where he was responsible for $10 billion in assets.
