The Connecticut Retirement Plans & Trust Funds has reported a year-to-date net return of 5.5 percent for real estate as of Sept. 30, 2018, according to its Real Estate Fund Performance Review report for third quarter 2018. The net value was $2.224 billion.
The retirement plan also reported a net return of 7.1 percent for the trailing one year. Relative to the policy target ranges, the State of Connecticut real estate
portfolio is currently over-allocated to core real estate and under allocated
to opportunistic real estate and is in compliance with regard to value-add and publicly traded real estate. It invests in four main property types; apartments, industrial, office and retail. Only 5 percent of its real estate portfolio is invested outside of the United States with the majority of that exposure in Europe. Its portfolio has a weighted average leverage ratio of 31 percent.
