Coinbase has announced that it has obtained registration as a restricted dealer in Canada, making it the first international cryptocurrency exchange registered in the country.
The registration is the result of a lengthy process begun in March 2023 when the company signed an Enhanced Pre-Registration Undertaking, signifying its dedication to regulatory compliance and operational excellence.
In a story on Coinbase’s website, Lucas Matheson, country director, Canada, Coinbase, wrote, “We believe that regulating centralized crypto intermediaries is essential for building trust and fostering innovation in the cryptocurrency market.”
