Blackstone Real Estate Partners X surpasses $24b

Blackstone Real Estate Partners X (BREP X), an opportunistic fund launched by Blackstone in May to invest in diversified property types globally, has reached $24.1 billion, according to a recent filing with the SEC.

The filing notes that 156 investors have contributed to the fund, which could reach $30.3 billion when it is finalized, according to the Wall Street Journal. Blackstone is said to be investing $300 million of its own capital in the vehicle.

A number of U.S. pension funds also have committed to the fund recently, including the Houston Firefighters’ Relief and Retirement Fund, the Teacher Retirement System of Texas, the University of Vermont and State Agricultural College, the Teachers’ Retirement System of the State of Illinois and the Teachers’ Retirement System of Kentucky.
