BH Properties purchases 60-acre Oakland Hills campus of Holy Names University

BH Properties announced the purchase of the 60-acre campus of Holy Names University in Oakland, Calif. The sale of the recently vacated campus and its facilities was brokered by CBRE.

Founded by the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary in 1868, Holy Names University had built and occupied the site since 1957 and recently added the 450-seat Valley Center for the Performing Arts. Due to declining enrollment, HNU announced in December 2022 that it would cease operations following the 2023 school year, which ended in May.

“We are excited to announce this long-term investment in the Oakland community,” said Jim Brooks, president at BH Properties. “This educational institution has long been a resource to the City of Oakland and the Bay Area, and we expect it to continue to be an asset to the community and its students for years to come.”
