Australian Retirement Trust opens first overseas office

by Lewis Dayton

The Australian Retirement Trust (ART), one of Australia’s largest superannuation funds, has opened its first overseas office in London.

The superannuation fund has more than 40 percent of its assets invested outside of Australia and more than A$25 billion ($16.3 billion) invested in the United Kingdom and continental Europe. Opening the office is a further step as the fund builds out a global investment capability.

“Australian Retirement Trust partners with world-class external managers and this is the next logical step for us to expand our investment capability,” said Ian Patrick, CIO of ART.

“The team in Australian Retirement Trust’s U.K. office will work with external investment managers to source new investment opportunities for our more than 2.3 million members,” Patrick added. “Having an office in close proximity to our external investment managers will help us secure even more compelling investment opportunities for our members.”
