Aquila Capital seals biggest Spanish logistics deal in years

by Marek Handzel

Aquila Capital has entered the Spanish logistics market with the biggest logistics transaction the country has seen in years.

The alternative investment specialist house has secured a purchase agreement for over half a million square meters of land to expand the Iberum Multimodal Central Platform industrial park, which is located near Madrid in Toledo. The area is Spain’s first green industrial park.

Urban Castilla La Mancha has developed more than 3.5 million square meters for logistics assets in the park, which are occupied by companies such as Amazon, Michelin, Toyota and Airbus FM-Logistic.

Aquila will develop new assets in the expanded park as part of its green logistics strategy, and the first segments of the development will be ready for tenants by mid-2021. Each asset will have solar panels on their roofs and strictly adhere to BREEAM standards, offsetting all CO2 emissions related to the area’s operation for the first two years.
