Aberdeen appoints Japan CEO

by Kali Persall

Aberdeen Standard Investments has appointed Ken Yajima as CEO and representative director of the firm’s Japan business, effective Oct. 1.

He will replace Neil Slater, who will assume a new title as deputy head of private markets and global head of real estate, according to news sources.

Yajima, a former executive at Schroders, will work out of Tokyo, and Slater will relocate to the firm’s headquarters in Edinburgh, Scotland.

Slater will replace David Paine and Pertti Vanhanen, the current global heads who are stepping down from their roles. The move comes on the heels of a launch of a collective private markets franchise.

As of June 30, Aberdeen Standard Investments had $669.6 billion in assets under management globally.
