ArcLight Capital Partners launches new energy fund

by Jody Barhanovich

ArcLight Capital Partners, a private equity firm based in Boston that focuses on energy and infrastructure assets, has launched a new energy-focused fund, according to an SEC filing. The firm did not comment on its fundraising efforts. A fundraise target for the fund was not disclosed in the filing.

The new fund, ArcLight Energy Partners Fund VII, will invest across the energy industry with a focus on energy and infrastructure assets throughout North America, specifically ones with substantial growth potential, significant current income and meaningful downside protection. The firm’s investment team targets midstream power and production opportunities, such as pipelines, storage, terminals, electric transmission and production of oil and natural gas.

The fund’s predecessor, ArcLight Energy Partners Fund VI, held a $5.6 billion final close in 2015, exceeding the fund’s $4 billion equity fundraising target and initial $5 billion hard cap.

ArcLight Capital Partners has invested approximately $20 billion in 106 transactions since its inception in 2001.
