Ampyr Energy USA plans 5GW solar development in U.S.

AGP Sustainable Real Assets Pte Ltd and energy and commodities trader Hartree Partners LP have formed a joint venture, Ampyr Energy USA, to build five gigawatts of utility-scale solar plants across multiple U.S. markets.

The new venture, Ampyr Energy USA, headquartered in New York, combines AGP’s experience in developing large-scale renewable power projects globally and Hartree’s expertise in power trading analytics and zero-carbon solutions.

Recently, its first joint venture, AMPYR Solar Europe (ASE), closed a €400 million ($441 million) facility with CarVal Investors to support ASE's plans to bring more than two gigawatts of solar power capacity into operation by 2025.

CarVal has made available an initial tranche of €250 million ($276 million) as well as a further incremental tranche of €150 million ($165 million). The facility will predominantly cover the construction costs of solar assets as well as providing some development capital and operati
