Back in the saddle: Toll road investors have traveled a rocky road of late but experts believe the future holds promise

These days it seems that everywhere you go there is traffic, whether dropping your children off at school, a quick run for milk at the grocery store, traveling to a great destination for vacation and, of course, the daily commute to work. There is always traffic on the drive to work. And it seems there is always even more traffic driving home from work.


Legislative update: P3s, TIFIA and the newly enacted WIFIA are on the agenda of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee and its panel on public-private partnerships

On Sept. 17, the House Transportation & Infrastructure Committee’s Panel on Public-Private Partnerships released its report and recommendations. The group, empanelled in February of this year, was tasked with examining “issues regarding public-private partnerships across all aspects of the Committee’s jurisdiction.” The panel held two hearings and seven roundtable discussions in addition to other meetings and briefings. The report recognizes that the nation’s infrastructure needs are extraordinary, and P3s in certain situations can provide innovative solutions and, in some ways, incentives for projects to be delivered on time and on budget.

Argentina is one of the most interesting unconventional oil and gas investment opportunities in Latin America, possibly just behind Mexico. While certain investors see significant opportunities in Argentina, most of the established private equity investors and independent exploration and production operators are waiting for this opportunity to mature further before spending any significant resources to pursue it.
