A new study by Atmos analyzed financial and commercial ties between the United States and major economies worldwide to identify which countries face the greatest exposure to American policy changes.
The research combined two critical dependency measures: the percentage of each country’s total debt owed to the United States and the share of each country’s global trade conducted with America. These metrics were weighted to create a U.S. dependence score, with debt exposure receiving double weight due to its greater sensitivity to policy shifts and difficulty to rapidly restructure.
