On Nov. 5, voters in 19 U.S. states approved 89 percent of state and local transportation measures, according to a report by the American Road & Transportation Builders Association.
The 270 approved measures are expected to generate $9.6 billion in new and recurring revenue.
Highway streets and bridges received 75 percent of votes, followed by multimodal types of infrastructure with 16 percent and transit/rail with 9 percent.
According to the report, Maine voters approved a $105 million bond measure to support transportation infrastructure projects, by a 76 percent to 24 percent margin.
Washington state voters also approved a measure to reduce or repeal certain motor vehicle taxes and fees and remove the authority to impose certain new fees without voter approval by a 56 percent to 44 percent margin.
In addition, Texas approved 60 local measures, increasing revenues by $7.8 billion.
