MIP II Acquires WCA Waste

Macquarie Infrastructure Partners II (MIP II) has agreed to pay $536 million for WCA Waste Corp., a Houston-based solid waste company. MIP II, a 10-year closed-end fund, agreed to pay $6.50 per share for WCA.

“We are excited about the company that we have built to date and are pleased to be partnering with MIP II as we enter our next phase of growth,” says Tom Fatjo Jr., WCA chairman and CEO. “This transaction represents an excellent opportunity to realize value.”

WCA operates 25 landfill sites and 29 collection operations serving 450,000 customers in 14 states in the Southeast and Midwest. The business has grown rapidly through acquisition, including the purchase of Emerald Waste Services in 2011 for $45 million, Stoughton Recycling Technologies in February,
