All eyes on the middle: Investors see real value in mid-market infrastructure

Amid the ongoing global economic and geopolitical uncertainty, investors have been operating in a more cautious manner. That is unsurprising. Nevertheless, in the search for attractive long-term investments, institutional investors are continuing to rely on real assets, especially infrastructure.

That is one of the key findings of PATRIZIA’s 2023 Investor Survey, in which more than 120 institutional investors shared their views on the sector. In fact, 60 percent of institutional investors plan to increase the size of their infrastructure portfolios in the next five years, of which 11 percent are aiming for a significant expansion of more than 10 percent. But when it comes to infrastructure, investors are focusing more on select asset classes and market segments to drive the most value, especially sustainable energy and mid-market assets.
