Drew Campbell, senior editor, Institutional Investing in Infrastructure, recently spoke with Joss Blamire, infrastructure director with GRESB, about the GRESB Infrastructure Assessments.

There is a lot of interest from institutional investors to invest in strategies focused on sustainability, renewable energy and climate resilience — what do the GRESB assessment results show us about this?

There is a clear trend of growth in infrastructure that supports the transition to a low-carbon future, such as renewable-energy projects. This is in line with increasingly ambitious government plans and a general societal demand to address climate issues. This is reflected in GRESB benchmarking participation, where renewable power saw the highest growth in participation this past year (65 percent), followed by environmental services (64 percent), transport (44 percent) and network utilities (27 percent).
