WSIB backs LS Power Equity Partners VI with $300m commitment

by Elise Mackanych

The Washington State Investment Board (WSIB) has committed up to $300 million to LS Power Equity Partners VI, according to investment correspondence.

LS Power Equity Partners VI is a closed-end vehicle which invests in power generation and transmission infrastructure assets in North America, with a fundraising goal of $4 billion and a focus on gas-fired generation, renewable power, storage and development, distributed energy, electrification infrastructure and renewable fuels. The Virginia Retirement System (VRS) committed $200 million to this fund earlier this month. LS Power Equity Partners V, its predecessor, raised $2.7 billion, oversubscribed from its initial target of $2.5 billion.

WSIB, a public pension fund, had $233.9 billion in total assets under management, as of March 31.
