Vattenfall has plans to team up with French public sector financial institution Caisse des Depots and German wind power developer WPD to bid for a 750-megawatt offshore wind project in Dunkirk, France.
After a prequalification round in May 2017, Vattenfall was selected among 10 companies to develop the wind turbine project of up to 750 megawatts. Ultimately, the offers will be judged based on price, wind energy optimization and environmental considerations, and a winner is expected to be selected in the second half of 2018, the energy company writes.
Vattenfall has plans to invest a total of $5.6 billion for 2018–2019.
The three firms have already participated in the construction of 14 offshore wind farms in Europe, and are presently on five of the six projects under development off the coast of France.
