The board of directors of WEC Energy Group recently took the next steps in the company's succession-planning process, providing continuity and senior leadership for the company's continued growth, development and service to customers.
Gale Klappa, executive chairman at WEC Energy, will continue to serve in his role until May 2024. Klappa was appointed executive chairman and to the office of the chair of WEC Energy by the board of directors in February 2019. Klappa previously served as chairman and CEO of WEC Energy after being reappointed by the board of directors in October 2017. Before his reappointment, Klappa served as non-executive chairman of WEC Energy Group after retiring as CEO in May 2016.
Scott Lauber, current COO, was promoted to president and CEO effective Feb. 1, 2022. In his new role, Lauber will report to Klappa. Lauber was named senior executive vice president and member of the office of the chair in January 2019 and COO in June 2020.
