The $132.3 billion Washington State Investment Board plans to commit an additional investment of up to $200 million in Geronimo Renewable Infrastructure Partners, according to Tish Tinker Day, CPRO, management analyst – institutional relations for WSIB.
The investment is considered part WSIB’s private markets investment program and falls within its Tangible Assets portfolio. WSIB’s tangible assets portfolio focuses on upstream and midstream segments in four main industries: minerals and mining, energy, agriculture, and society essentials. Each has a different return attribute which provides diversification benefits to the overall CTF portfolio.
Geronimo Renewable Infrastructure Partners is a North American renewable energy fund, with an equity fundraising target of $500 million.
This would be the WSIB’s second investment in the fund after a $300 million commitment made in 2017.
WSIB’s tangible assets portfolio makes up $4.4 billion of its total assets.
