Virginia Retirement System backs $10b Stonepeak Infrastructure fund

Virginia Retirement System (VRS) has committed $150 million to the Stonepeak Infrastructure Partners Fund IV on behalf of its real assets portfolio, a new investment document shows.

The closed-end infrastructure fund will invest in energy, transport, renewables, telecommunications, utilities and water assets throughout the United States.

Stonepeak Infrastructure Partners has set a fundraising target of $10 billion for the fund.

VRS joins a number of institutional investors that have backed the infrastructure fund. These include Taiwan Life Insurance, the Rhode Island State Investment Commission, the Washington State Investment Board, the Oregon Public Employees Retirement Fund, the Maine Public Employees Retirement System, the Teachers’ Retirement System of Louisiana and the Seattle City Employees’ Retirement System.
