Vauban takes majority stake in one of Europe’s largest biomethane production facilities

Vauban Infrastructure Partners has acquired a significant leading stake in a major Dutch biomethane production asset, representing the firm’s first investment in the region and sector, expanding its European footprint.

Vauban’s Core Infrastructure Fund IV SCSp and Core Infrastructure Fund IV SCA SICAV RAIF (together CIF IV) closed the acquisition of a majority stake in the Wijster companies, namely Green Create W2V Europe and its wholly owned subsidiary Green Create Wijster (or the Wijster plant) from Green Create, paving the way for a long-term partnership in the biomethane sector. Financial terms were not disclosed.

The Wijster plant is one of Europe’s largest biomethane production facilities, with a current installed capacity of 237 gigawatt hours per year, which is injected into the Dutch grid.
