US Solar Fund buys 177mw solar portfolio

by Andrea Zander

London-listed investment company US Solar Fund has acquired a 177-megawatt portfolio of 22 operating utility-scale solar power projects located in the U.S. states of North Carolina, Oregon and California.

The seller is an affiliate of Heelstone Renewable Energy. The financial details of the deal were not disclosed.

The portfolio will bring US Solar Fund’s total utility-scale solar asset count to 37 sites.

Recently, the firm closed the purchase of five operational solar power plants with a combined capacity of around 28 megawatts in North Carolina from Greenbacker Renewable Energy Co. The five solar parks are part of the deal that included eight solar projects with a total capacity of about 39 megawatts in direct current (DC). The eight utility-scale solar farms sell their electricity under long-term power purchase agreements (PPAs) with subsidiaries of Duke Energy.
