University of Notre Dame’s largest solar project comes online in Indiana

A new 20-megawatt solar farm has been delivered in Indiana. The St. Joseph Solar Farm was developed by Indiana Michigan Power (I&M), a subsidiary of American Electric Power, in partnership with the University of Notre Dame.

The new solar farm — I&M’s fifth and largest to date — is located along the Indiana Toll Road, several miles from the University of Notre Dame's campus.

Built on 210 acres of I&M-owned land in St. Joseph County, the St. Joseph Solar Farm is the largest solar endeavor for the University of Notre Dame, which collaborated on the large-scale project. The University of Notre Dame will support 40 percent of the renewable energy certificates, which represent the clean energy generated by the solar farm.
