UBS-AM identifies major infrastructure trends for 2020

UBS-AM Real Estate & Private Markets has released its Infrastructure Outlook: Top Trends for 2020 paper, which highlights three key themes across Europe and North America to help investors make portfolio allocation decisions.

According to the report, growing demand to combat climate change is creating new investment opportunities in low carbon infrastructure and the digital infrastructure sector, which is experiencing heavy investment activity. In addition, despite political and economic concerns, broader private infrastructure debt and equity markets appear healthy.

Competition for infrastructure assets has also encouraged investors to pursue emerging technologies, especially in the energy sector. The report identifies three major ones that are expected to emerge next year, which include energy storage, electric vehicle charging stations, and smart meters and grids.
