U.S. with other nations sign $20b deal with Indonesia’s shift from coal

Co-led by the United States and Japan, a group of countries has formed a $20 billion deal with Indonesia to accelerate its shift toward clean energy.

The deal was announced on Tuesday on the sidelines of the Group of 20 (G20) Summit. The landmark partnership pursues an ambitious and just power sector transition in Indonesia, supporting a trajectory consistent with keeping 1.5°C global warming limit within reach.

Over the next six months, the parties will work together to develop a concrete plan to achieve significant new targets and policies to reduce GHG emissions and support affected communities by:
