Trump administration mulls $1t infra stimulus plan

by Kali Persall

President Donald Trump and his team are considering a $1 trillion infrastructure stimulus plan that would reinvigorate the United States economy, Bloomberg reported last week.

The Department of Transportation is preparing a preliminary version, which will allocate the majority of the funding for traditional infrastructure projects such as roads and bridges. The money also will go toward 5G wireless and broadband infrastructure, people with knowledge of the matter told Bloomberg.

The announcement comes on the heels of the introduction of a $500 billion transportation bill that was introduced by House Democrats earlier in June. The bill focuses on transit and railroads.

This week, several Republican senators introduced two pieces of legislation that would cut back  some of the regulations caused by the National Environmental Policy Act, allowing infrastructure projects to move forward more quickly.
