The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) and Eastern High-Speed Rail Linking Three Airports Co. (Charoen Pokphand Holding and strategic alliances), have signed a public-private partnership (P3) agreement to develop a high-speed rail project in Thailand, according to InfraPPP.
The $7.4 billion project, known as the High-Speed Rail Linking Three Airports Project, connects the Don Mueang, Suvarnabhumi and U-Tapao airports via a 136-mile stretch. The train will be able to reach a maximum of 155 miles per hour.
The 50-year contract includes five years of construction and 45 years of operation and maintenance. The project is slated for completion in 2023.
