by Elise Mackanych

The Teacher Retirement System (TRS) of Texas has committed $200 million to The Carlyle Group’s Global Infrastructure Opportunity Fund II, according to investment correspondence on Jan. 9.

The Carlyle Global Infrastructure Opportunity Fund II is a closed-end fund that invests in transport, logistics, energy and power, water, and agriculture in the United States. A fundraising goal has not been determined.

Texas TRS and Carlyle have an existing relationship, as the pension fund committed $250 million to the inaugural Global Infrastructure Opportunity Fund in 2017.

As of Sept. 30, 2025, Texas TRS had $225.3 billion in total assets under management. As of June 30, 2025, the fund had a 6 percent infrastructure allocation target, with $14.4 billion in total infrastructure assets.
