Texas TRS’ head of ESG vacates role

by Kali Persall

Lauren Gellhaus, head of ESG at the Teacher Retirement System (TRS) of Texas, has stepped down from her post.

“Last week I ended an amazing chapter in my career,” said Gellhaus in a LinkedIn posting. “After 5+ years at the Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), I logged off for the last time. While I am thrilled for the next chapter (more on that soon), I am so grateful to all the folks at TRS; I would not be the person I am today without you. It was an honor to work alongside you, serving the teachers of Texas.”

Gellhaus joined TRS Texas in 2017 as cash management and transition lead, where she oversaw the largest transition in over a decade for TRS, later moving into an investor role as part of the external public markets team in 2018. In 2020, she became head of ESG, where she was responsible for the strategic development and execution of the investment management division’s ESG initiatives, in coordination with the executive team and the board.
