by Elise Mackanych

The Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS) committed $584.9 million to infrastructure investment vehicles in January, according to official investment correspondence.

Quantum Energy Partners IX, a vehicle of Quantum Energy Partners, received $250 million for its closed-end, opportunistic strategy that targets energy infrastructure, upstream oil and gas, and energy transition/decarbonization assets in North America. Quantum Energy Partners VIII, its predecessor, closed with nearly $5.3 billion in funds raised, surpassing its initial goal of $4.6 billion.

The public pension fund also committed $250 million to Quantum Quest SIF, an opportunistic program of QEP Advisers; $25 million to Blackstone Voltron Co-Invest, an opportunistic vehicle of Blackstone Core Equity Management Associates II; and approximately $60 million to HarbourVest Hydro, an opportunistic program of HarbourVest Partners.

Texas TRS had $225.3 billion in total assets under management as of June 3
