The $150 billion Teacher Retirement System of Texas has committed a total of $250 million to an energy-diversified fund and an infrastructure fund, according to Rob Maxwell, investments communications specialist.
TRS committed $150 million to Global Energy & Power Infrastructure Fund III, managed by BlackRock, and $100 million to Empire RR Energy, managed by Energy Capital Partners Management.
Global Energy & Power Infrastructure Fund III focuses on equity investments in the mid-market energy and power infrastructure value chain, primarily in developed countries. The fund held a $1.5 billion first close in July.
Empire RR Energy is an energy-diversified fund. The firm’s opportunistic energy fund invests in energy-related core power, renewables, midstream and environmental businesses, most notably asset-heavy energy businesses that solve the needs of utilities and oil and gas producers.
