The $35.2 billion Employees Retirement System (ERS) of Texas has unveiled a $50 million commitment to KKR Asia Pacific Infrastructure Investors II.

KKR launched the fund in May to invest in critical infrastructure with low volatility and strong downside protection in Asia Pacific. The fund series has a broad investment mandate across both emerging and developed Asia Pacific in sectors such as waste, renewables, power and utilities, telecommunications, and transportation infrastructure.

The initial fund in the series, KKR Asia Pacific Infrastructure Investors, closed in January 2021 with $3.9 billion of equity commitments. At its final closing, KKR Asia Pacific Infrastructure Investors became the largest pan-regional infrastructure fund to have been raised for Asia Pacific.

A fundraising target for Fund II could not be confirmed at the time of publication.
