The United Kingdom’s Hartlepool Borough Council is seeking a contractor to design, build, finance, commission, test and operate a $2.7 billion energy recovery facility (ERF) project, according to InfraPPP.
The project will need to have the capacity to accommodate the waste of six other local authorities, which are expected to produce 397,000 tonnes of residual waste per year by 2025–2026. It will also need to accommodate changes in waste growth leading to an expected processing capacity of at least 450,000 tonnes of waste per annum toward the end of the term.
The other local authorities include Darlington Borough Council, Durham County Council, Middlesbrough Council, Newcastle City Council, Redcar, and Cleveland Borough Council and Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council.
