Teachers’ Retirement System of Louisiana approved $35m for Quantum Energy Partners VIII

by Kali Persall

The Teachers’ Retirement System (TRS) of Louisiana has greenlighted a $35 million commitment to Quantum Energy Partners VIII and its co-investment fund.

QEP VIII, managed by Quantum Energy Partners, is an “all-weather fund” investing across the sustainable-energy ecosystem, according to a board document from TRS Louisiana. The fund is seeking to allocate 60 percent to 70 percent of capital to zero- and low-carbon investments.

Quantum Energy Partners Fund VIII has $1.7 billion of commitments in place and $290 million of capital deployed to portfolio companies. The vehicle has a fundraising target of $3.5 billion.

A previous fund in the series, QEP VII, has funneled $800 million of investments into Louisiana-focused projects.

This was TRS Louisiana’s first commitment with this manager.
