SUSI Partners and SMT Energy have secured a tax equity investment from Greenprint Capital for a co-owned 100-megawatt battery-storage portfolio in South Texas. Financial terms were not disclosed.
The portfolio consists of 10 utility-scale stand-alone battery energy storage projects that will help stabilize strained power grids in the ERCOT electricity market by balancing mismatches of electricity supply and demand. All the assets are expected to start commercial operations in the coming months.
SMT Energy developed the 100-megawatt battery-storage portfolio and also managed the assets during construction. The U.S. clean-energy developer will continue to oversee commercial operations as the minority owner of the portfolio.
