Statkraft buys near full-ownership of Norwegian EV charging company, Gronn Kontakt

Statkraft has acquired a 47.5 percent stake in Norwegian electric vehicle charging company Gronn Kontakt from Agder Energi, a hydroelectric energy company.

Statkraft, Europe’s largest renewable energy producer, said the acquisition will strengthen Gronn Kontakt in the Nordics and positions the company for further growth within the European charging market.

“Electric vehicles will change the power industry in Europe, and to achieve an emission-free transport sector, renewable energy must be used to charge electric vehicles,” said Christian Rynning-Tonnesen, president and CEO of Statkraft. “It is time to further develop Norway’s and Gronn Kontakt’s strong position, and to use our expertise and our competitive advantage to drive the electrification of the transport sector forward.”
