Star America holds $183m close for infrastructure fund

by Andrea Waitrovich

Star America Infrastructure Partners has raised $183.2 million so far for its first infrastructure investment vehicle, according to a filing with the SEC.

Star America Infrastructure Fund launched in January 2013 with a $400 million fundraising goal. It will invest in greenfield public-private partnership projects in the United States and Canada, primarily in the transportation, social infrastructure and water sectors.

Recently, Michigan’s Department of Transportation selected Star America Infrastructure and its partner Aldridge Electric to design, build, finance, operate and maintain, over a 15-year term, the freeway lighting system in the Detroit Metro Region.

Other 2015 projects include a $54 million project with Balfour Beatty Campus Solutions and Wynne/Jackson, who together will design, build, finance and operate a mixed-use housing and retail development adjacent to The University of Texas at Dallas through a public-private partnership.
