Investor demand for infrastructure debt has been growing for the past 10 years, and 2023 looks to be another year of growth, according to Nick Cleary, senior partner for Vantage Infrastructure, in an interview published in the March issue of Institutional Investment in Infrastructure. “The investment opportunity is growing at around 15 percent per year,” says Cleary, “where senior debt is the largest and most resilient opportunity, offering around $700 billion of investments each year in North America and Europe alone. The diversity of sectors, risk-return profiles and improving accessibility are being recognized by investors making their initial investment or expanding existing allocations.” While competition is definitely increasing, access is improving at the same time, according to Cleary.
